  • How to get to the Mexico Border from San Diego Airport

At Dr. Mexico dental office, we understand that getting to our clinic in Tijuana can be a hassle. That’s why we offer several options to make your journey as smooth as possible.

1. Third-Party Drivers

For those who prefer a more secure option, we have reliable third-party drivers who can pick you up from the San Diego Airport and transport you directly to our clinic in Tijuana. They will cross you through Mexican Customs and drive you a short distance to the clinic. The cost is $80, paid directly to the driver, but they will get you here quickly and securely. The driver will clear you through Customs, and the clinic is just 5 minutes away from there.

2. Taxi or Uber

Alternatively, you can take an Uber from the San Diego Airport to the San Ysidro border crossing for about $35. They will drop you off in front of the Trolley station, where you will find signs that direct you to walk up a ramp to the entry of Mexico Immigration.

Call our reception desk at 619 500 9706 while still on the USA side of the border so we can dispatch our free shuttle to pick you up and bring you to our clinic.

Once you walk through the turnstile gate into Mexico, you will see the desk of Immigration. You will need to present your valid passport and fill out a short tourist visa application.

For a stay of a week or less, there is no charge. For a multi-entry stay of up to 180 days, the charge is $25.

If you’re planning to stay for a week or more, we recommend getting a free tourist visa by just telling the immigration officer that you’re staying for a week. Once you have your visa, you can continue through Immigration and exit. It takes just 5 minutes to get through. You will exit the building and walk toward the street.

Farmacia Roma

On the street, you will see all the taxis lined up, but across from the street, you will see a large Farmacia Roma on the corner.

Mexico Dental Network Car

Stand in front of the Roma because that is where our distinctive little red car with the white tooth on the door will meet you. It says Mexico Dental Network below the tooth logo.

3. Bus

Bus route for MTS 992

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, there is public transportation available from the airport. The MTS bus, MTS 992, operates from 5:00 a.m. to midnight and requires an exact change of $2.50 for the fare ($1.25 for seniors).

The bus will take you downtown, where you can get on the light rail train to the San Ysidro border.

Get off the bus in front of “American Plaza station” and buy a ticket at the kiosk for the “Blue Line” Trolley train, “San Ysidro Border Tijuana”. The train ride takes just over 40 minutes and goes to the end of the line.

At the Trolley platform, exit and follow the signs to go into Mexico. Again, follow the instructions given above, call us before crossing the border, give us your description, and we will send our shuttle car for you. Exiting Immigration, our car will meet you in front of Farmacia Roma.

We hope these options make it easier for you to visit us at Dr. Mexico Tijuana Dentist Center.
